Nissan Pixo

The Nissan Pixo is a compact, budget priced city car.  Manufactured in India, prices range from £6,995 to £8,645.  A five door hatchback, there are three versions of trim, all of which come with a 1.0 litre petrol engine.

Extra kit is fairly basic.  The entry level Visia comes with two airbags, power steering, ABS and a CD stereo.  The mid range Acenta additionally has electric front windows, remote central locking, side airbags and a 50/50 split rear seat.  The top of the range Tekna also features curtain airbags, air conditioning and ESP stability control.

The Nissan Pixo will do 0-60 mph in 14 seconds with a maximum speed of 96 mph.  One of the big plus points is the economical fuel consumption of 51.3 mpg for urban conditions, 74.3 mpg for non urban and a combined consumption of 64.2 mpg.

This is a basic car with few frills.  Luggage capacity of 129 litres in the boot is adequate for four passengers and can be greatly increased to 367 litres by folding the rear seat down if only two passengers use the vehicle.  There are some interesting interior design touches such as a pocket on the passenger side instead of a glove-box.  For short journeys running around town, going shopping or driving the children to and from school, the Nissan Pixo is perfectly adequate despite the limitations.  The real benefits of this car for drivers are the low purchase cost and equally low running costs.
