Nissan Cube
The Nissan Cube is a budget priced MPV and as the name suggests, the design of its body veers towards a cube shape. It is priced from £11,000 to £14,000 on the road.
There are two engines in the range, a 1.5litre dCi diesel and a 1.6litre petrol. The 1.6 will do 0 to 60mph in 10.7 seconds with a maximum speed of 114mph. Fuel consumption on the diesel model is a reasonably economical 49.6mpg in urban driving conditions, 62.8mpg in non-urban conditions and 57.6mpg combined.
Design wise the Nissan Cube has some unusual features. The rear door opens from the side instead of the top, which makes it easier to access in confined spaces. The side rear windows join the rear window in a continuous glass shape without supporting frames, which makes it easier for the driver when reversing. The manufacturer describes the interior as a casual lounge with the rear seat having a ‘Jacuzzi curve’. The Nissan Cube’s interior is certainly spacious for its size and passengers will find it comfortable in addition to having plenty of storage space.
The Nissan Cube is not fantastic to drive; it is not a car that will be purchased for its performance and can be noisy, especially at higher speeds. Safety features, which include twin airbags, ABS and EBD are in line with what you would expect from a 2010 model. It is the unusual design of the car that is its major selling point and depending on your point of view, you will either love it or hate it. |
